"The Tables Turned" by William Wordsworth
Up! up! my Friend, and quit your books; Or surely you’ll grow double: Up! up! my Friend, and clear your looks; Why all this toil and trouble? The sun, above the mountain’s head, A freshening lustre mellow Through all the long green fields has spread, His first sweet evening yellow. Books! ‘tis a dull and endless strife: Come, hear the woodland linnet, How sweet his music! on my...

Current thoughts.
People are difficult, negative, judgmental, mean, and selfish, and so am I. I need love, grace, and wisdom in unlimited amount to accept both them and myself.
Others are both worse and better than you think they are. They can horrify you with how messed up they can be, and also surprise you with acts of goodness and love.
I am overly sensitive and take myself too seriously. But I think...
The Tyger- William Blake. One of my faves.
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye Could frame thy fearful symmetry? In what distant deeps or skies Burnt the fires of thine eyes? On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand dare seize the fire? And what shoulder, & what art, Could twist the sinews of thy heart? And when thy heart began to beat, What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What the...
To be added to my vocabulary.
Non sequitur: (n.) a reply that has no relevance to what preceded it. Comes from Latin, meaning: ”it does not follow.”
…3 years of Latin in high school, and I never made the connection that non sequitur was a Latin phrase. Maybe my scraping by with a C- for the last two years had something to do with it.
Two choices.
I have hesitated to choose either options because of fear. The first option— fear of the unknown. The second— fear of what I could lose. But I realized something this morning as I prayed and thought about what I should do.
First of all, I should have known all along that being afraid you’re going to lose something is never a valid reason for choosing it.
Secondly, don’t...

Some poetry by Anna Letitia Barbauld.
Excerpts from “The Mouse’s Petition” Oh hear a pensive prisoner’s prayer, For liberty that sighs; And never let thine heart be shut Against the wretch’s cries. (1-4) If e’er thy breast with freedom glow’d, And spurn’d a tyrant’s chain, Let not thy strong oppressive force, A free-born mouse...
Mutilation of Worms After Rain
The wet sidewalk glistening with rain, The soggy leaves in various stages of rot, The drenched grass limp with joy, The grayness of the sky, The dampness of the air. No. No. No. It meant just one thing. Hundreds of pale, flesh-colored, clammy coils strewn across the pavement, Like limbs and entrails scattered in a street by some demented serial killer for unwitting civilians to encounter…...
Ezekiel 37
The Valley of Dry Bones 1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the LORD and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. 2 He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. 3 He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “O Sovereign LORD, you alone...
The Testimony.
If you’ve been through pain, you’ve got to let God use it. Don’t waste your pain— if you give it to God, He won’t waste a single bit of it. Your past doesn’t have to remain those darker days you’d rather not think of, they can be the ancient bricks and stones that He uses to build something beautiful. He loves to take the broken and the dirty and the ugly...
Peruvian spatuletail hummingbird. →
I think of hummingbirds as one of the most elegant and delicate things God ever made. Their wings are so delicate that if you touch them while they are whirring in motion you can break them. They require so much energy to fly that they need to consume nectar every minute. They weigh about as much as thistledown, and they’re tinier than Tinkerbell. Compared to other birds, they’re like...

YOU SLUTS
LOL.
Russian Roulette.
The faux-hawk. Each one reflects the person who wears it. So unique and daring if done right. A nightmare if done wrong. Either way it’s Russian Roulette.
I feel the urge once more to spontaneously cut off half the hair rooted to the top of my head. However, I’m nearing the end of my extremely long growing out stage from the faux-hawk which I wore last April up til about July....
